TYPES OF INVERTERS
The Inverter is the workhorse of a solar or battery system and there are a range of differing functions available from different models. The Inverter needs to be selected to fit the the customers requirements. This way we ensure no one pays for features they do not need
When selecting an inverter its important to consider:
How Long is the warranty ( Can be from 1 year to 10 years) ?
Does the warranty cover parts and labor, or just parts ?
What is the inverters efficiency ?
Can I continue to use the power in the event of grid failure ?
If power is provided during grid failure is it using Emergency Power Supply (E.P.S.) or Uninterrupted Power Supply (U.P.S.) ?
What is the difference between E.P.S. and U.P.S. ?
Is the inverter battery ready ?
INVERTERS FALL INTO DIFFERENT CATEGORIES
SINGLE AND THREE PHASE STRING INVERTERS
THIS REPRESENTS THE MAJORITY OF EXISTING SOLAR INSTALLATIONS
MICRO INVERTERS – A SMALL INVERTER ATTACHED TO EACH SOLAR PANEL
SINGLE AND THREE PHASE HYBRID INVERTERS
NEWER TO THE MARKET ARRIVING WITH THE BATTERIES
SINGLE AND THREE PHASE HYBRID INVERTERS WITH IN BUILT BATTERY.
AC COUPLED BATTERY INVERTERS – FOR USE WITH OR WITHOUT SOLAR PANELS.
MULTI MODE INVERTERS MOSTLY USED ON STAND ALONE POWER SUPPLIES
THESE USED TO BE THE STANDARD FOR LARGE SCALE GENERATION. HOWEVER, THE INDUSTRY IS MOVING AWAY FROM THESE AND ARE EMBRACING LARGE SCALE STRING INVERTERS INSTEAD.
